The frame measure approximately 5-1/2" or 140 mm wide. Picture #4, is a screenshot of one page of the Official Approved United States Patent for the date shown on the inner eye rim in picture #7. The patent, was original applied for in 1914, so I am confidant these are a modified version of Fig. III. As far as the Wellsworth hallmarking,... following is quoted from the Optical Heritage Museum website,... "American Optical continued to expand their factories as lens production increased. Lensdale, AO’s new lens plant, and an adjacent power plant were built in 1910 behind the new main plant. Lensdale was a unique structure of innovative design with large windows that provided natural lighting and was built entirely of cement to be fireproof. It was the largest concrete building of its time in the United States. The Wellsworth trademark was used during the period from 1911 until 1927, a time of many changes in both the company and the American lifestyle. With the introduction of the automobile, driving goggles were added in 1907 to AO’s product line for protection against the elements. The Fits U eye-glasses (glasses without temples) were very popular during this time. When it was felt that Wellsworth became better known than the American Optical Company, the overlapping AO trademark was patented and introduced in 1929. A shield was added to the AO letters in 1943, with variations made in later years."
