Description: 1940 New York World's Fair Kan-O-Seat. It is made by the Stafford-Johnson Seating Corp. of Ionia, Michigan. It can be folded to use as a cane or walking stick or unfolded to use as a seat. It is constructed of wood, plywood, and metal. The decal on top of seat in the official blue and orange colors of the fair and featuring the Trylon and Perisphere and having "1940 New York World's Fair". Stamped with "Kan-O-Seat" and manufacturer on seat bottom. It is 35" tall folded, 27 1/2" tall unfolded and seat is 9" in diameter. Very light wear to decal and in overall very good condition. The Museum of Modern Art has a Kan-O-Seat in its collection and attributes the design to Albin Johnson.
