Description: Presented here is a 1971 Vintage Timex Mercury 16570 2571 Hand Wound Men’s Dress Watch This collectible Timex Mercury watch (often misrepresented as a Marlin) pairs the purity, precision and pleasure of an hand wound mechanical movement with the timeless sophistication of a sleek design. This watch features a sleek 33 mm chrome plated case with a simple yet elegant white dial with Breguet style Arabic numeral hour markers and luminous hands. There are luminous dots behind the hour markers. Date is displayed at the 3 position. The dial is signed TIMEX – 16570 2571. The last two digits indicate the 1971 production year. Inner case back is stamped 9P71. It has a domed crystal with a crack behind the 4 marker. The timepiece is powered by a Timex M25 Manual Winding Mechanical movement. The watch is fitted with an aftermarket black alligator print leather watch band that complements the watch well. For a watch that is over 50 years old, it is in great shape. The case is in excellent condition with no loss to the chrome plating. There are superficial scratches and one micro ding on the outer side. One of the lugs shows a scuff mark that has been highlighted. Dial is very clean with lettering intact. Lume, surprisingly, still works - may have been professionally re-lumed. Crystal does have scratches and has a light crack behind the 4 marker (see last pic with this highlighted). Crown is clean with no visible plating loss. The movement is very clean, winds smoothly and keeps reasonably good time for vintage mechanical watch (runs a little slow). Service history is unknown. Watch band appears like new / recently changed and complements the watch well. I have included several pictures of the watch, case & movement. Please refer to them for condition and details as they are part of the description. All pictures have been taken on the macro setting to show detail. This makes even the slightest imperfections, shadows during photography, and specks of dust appear much more prominent even though they are often not visible without magnification. Make this classic timepiece yours today. It is not common to find these in this cosmetic and working condition. It will make an admirable addition to any vintage watch collection.
