Description: Penn Antique Restoration 36.5"x85.5" Antique Solid Wood Storm Door w/20 Lites Rare, antique, storm door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern PA. The door is made of Douglas Fir or pine and is stained on the front side, and painted black on the back side. When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. The door has a removable panel with 20 windows. 17 of those windows have intact, old fashioned, wavy glass; 1 has cracked glass and 2 have no glass. We could replace the 3 broken/missing lites--email us for a quote. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit it (check out our eBay store). One of the locks which holds the removable window panel is missing. The window is still held in place fairly well with the 3 locks that it has. * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Uneven Size: The doors height was unevenly cut by 1/4". The cuts were most likely made to accommodate a warped floor or sagging foundation. We could cut the door to an even 85 5/8", or cut it narrower/shorter, or even build it up to be wider/taller--email us for a quote. Condition: The door is strong, sturdy, and in excellent condition. It only has nicks and scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks." The 17 glass lites that are intact, are in great shape with only subtle scratches. Swing: The door is currently set up to swing outwardly (away from the home) and end up on your right side or inwardly towards the left. We could modify it to swing in the opposite direction--email us for a quote. Strip/Refinish: We could refinish or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. We have MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how this door could clean up. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. Modification: We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace glass with screen, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
