Description: Amiga High Density Compatible (FZ/FB-357A) Floppy drive · This is a working/tested Herr Doktor Diskettenlaufwerk (Amiga-HDDLW) Sony floppy disk drive that, post modification, works identically to the original Amiga FZ/FB-357A manufactured for the A4000D/T computers. The drive has been tested with double density copy-protected game disks (specifically the Lemmings game disk). · It formats to 1.76MB and stores twice the amount of information than a standard Amiga floppy. Just like the FZ/FB-357A, when a HD floppy is inserted, the drives spins at 150 RPM, allowing 22 sectors per track (3520 sectors vs. the standard DD disk that contains 1760 sectors (11 sectors per track, 80 tracks, and 2 sides) to be recorded and read. · The drive can be fit as is, with an Amiga A2000, A4000D or A4000T, or modified to fit an Amiga A3000, an A500 (top of case needs to be trimmed back, with an added Sony A500 button), or an A1200 with a trimmed top case and a Sony A1200 eject button. Eject buttons can be 3D printed from files found on the Prusa, Yeggi, or Thingiverse websites. Although not tested to fit the front faceplate on the A3000, it appears to need an A1200 eject button, same as the floppy faceplate of the CheckMate A1500+ case, that was tested. I am sorry, but the slab of pink Himalayan salt is not part of the sale, nor is my original copy of Lemmings. To keep the heads from dislodging during transport, I will use a “High Density-copy of ATKv1.21” disk made for this purpose. High Density disks spinning a 150 RPM need to be of good quality to function properly; IMHO, the newer the HD disk, the better it will function.
