Description: Delaware Township - Garden State Park Racetrack - "First Landing" - 1959 - NEW JERSEY: Garden State Park was a harness and thoroughbred race track in Cherry Hill, Camden County, New Jersey. It is now the site of a high-end, mixed-use "town center" development of stores, restaurants, apartments, townhouses, and condominiums. Garden State Park's 600 acre (≈1 square mile) land area is roughly bounded by Route 70, Haddonfield Road, Chapel Avenue, and New Jersey Transit's Atlantic City Rail Line. First Landing (March 7, 1956 – 1987) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. The card's reverse informs: "Eddie Arcaro up, after victory in the 1958 running of The Garden State, the world's richest race. The race grossed $297,250. Retired to Christopher Chenery's stud farm, First Landing sired a number of graded stakes race winners including Jim J. (1964), Balustrade (1965), Artfully (1973), Stutz Bearcat (1975), and his most important, U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee Riva Ridge, who won the 1972 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes.
