Miniature sized, only 5 by 3 7/8” in medium brown cloth over board hard cover, gilded title on the spine, 188 pages, double page layout in Greek & English with rubrics in red, prayer text in black, all pages with text enclosed in a tight red border. The Liturgy of the Presanctified is the special service in the Greek Orthodox Church for the distribution of the Holy Gifts (Communion) on weekdays of the period of the Great Lent before Easter. Its origins have been attributed to Pope St Gregory the Great (540-604), known in the East as St Gregory the Dialogist. Condition of the book graded as Good to Very Good, AS-IS only because of the slight split to the external cloth on the seams where the covers meet the spine face; this is external wear only, and the hinges of the book are not affected. The interior pages are fresh, clean and unmarked except for the stamp of previous owner inside 1st page fly leaf and on top of title page, external boards show some generalized surface wear- an unusual antique book in the Greek Orthodox liturgy.
