Description: Antique bronzed metal bookends of Roycroft founder Elbert Hubbard, a leader in the Arts & Crafts Movement, who lost his life with the sinking of the Lusitania These bookends date from the 1920's or 1930's and are cast in metal with a bronze finish, which is mostly intact. They depict Hubbard sitting on a pile of books and reading a large folio. The back is embossed with a "©", however I can not find the maker - there is what may be a small k on the back. I know that Nuart, who made bookends, made ones similar or identical to these, so it could be from them. Each stands 6.5" tall by 5.25" wide by 4" deep, and each weighs about 4 lbs. apiece. They have a wonderful chocolate patina from age. They are in very good condition -no cracks, chips or breaks - with some normal wear from age, some loss of the bronze finish mainly around the head Please see pics and feel free to ask any questions Please see our other listings - we have other antique bookends and many other cool and interesting items - we will combine/discount shipping when possible. Please see our other listings - always glad to combine shipping.
