What Do We Think Loads of fun to play, the Bigsby and 24.75” scale provide a spongier feel with the traditional Tele twang. We spec’d this guitar with a very complementary Lollar P-90 and Vintage T pickup configuration. We’re going to start counter-intuitively here, and that might give you a hint at the versatility of this instrument. The Lollar Vintage T in the bridge position handles gain very well. It has the clear snap you want in a tele bridge. But it has a good growl rather than the brassy high end that pervades some Tele bridge positions. And that disposition works equally well on clean tones. The middle position is full and sweet. It’s a blend that is both warm and chimey. It has much fuller “body” than a pure single coil guitar, but a more transparent midrange and more shimmering top end than a typical P-90 guitar. The Lollar P-90 in the neck takes like a duck to water in this Swamp Ash build. It is equal parts fat and spanky. The pickup has all the depth and punch you want in a neck P-90. But there’s a little extra clarity to be had, especially under a light pick attack. Dig in, and it starts to compress nicely. The sustain is loud and proud. How Does It Play The action is absolutely beautiful, low without any buzz. String action measures barely a hair over 4/64” on the low E at the 12th fret, and just below on the high E. The RoundBack ‘50s neck profile encourages you to dig in a little with plenty of support and zero fatigue. Weight: 7lb 11oz The Fano Custom hard case is included.
