Well, here’s a 2002 Made in Mexico Fender Jazz Bass, and this one is a killer example of Fender Ensenada manufacturing. Just look at the photos. It even sounds better than it looks. Remarkably clean for a 22 year old bass that has been well taken care of, never abused. There’s just something better about the sound and feel of a naturally aged body and neck of a bass, especially one with DiMarzio Area J Hum Cancelling pickups. All the classic sounds of a Jazz bass WITHOUT that nagging 60 hz hum when soloing pickups. What is original - neck with slab rosewood fingerboard, tuners, alder body, control plate, pots and knobs, neck plate, strap buttons. What is not original - Dimarzio Area J Hum Cancelling pickups, aftermarket pickguard, Gotoh 203B bridge with brass saddles, added tone cap switch, a fairly fresh set of D’Addario coated roundwound strings. The DiMarzio Area J pickups sound awesome (see video link). I added tone cap switch that can switch from a .047 cap (better for the neck pickup) to a .022 cap (better for the bridge pickup). Each cap can be used with either pickup individually or both pickups simultaneously for a wide variety of useful and totally passive Jazz Bass tones. Sure, you COULD buy a NEW MIM Fender Jazz for even MORE money, but why would you do that? I’ll put this bass up against any MIA or MIJ Fender Jazz of the era… and it will meet it or beat it, WITHOUT the 60 hz hum, and with MULTIPLE passive tone options not offered in a stock Fender Bass. The bass will be shipped well packed inside a Road Runner gig bag. The adjustment hex keys will also ship in the gig bag.
