Description: This is a wonderful and Fine Vintage European POLISH Impressionist Ostrowiec Cathedral Oil Painting on Canvas, depicting the famed 17th century St. Michael's Cathedral in Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski, Poland, which was built in 1614. This piece is rendered in a highly impressionistic style, reminiscent of the French Post-Impressionist luminaries of the late 19th century. The church is seen rising above the dense sylvan forest below, half obscured by tall trees. The small parapets, spires, and multiple windows of this building are reminiscent of some secluded fairytale castle. This painting has extensive information written in Polish on the verso of the canvas and is dated multiple times. The lower signature and date read: "Monika Krajewska. Ostrowiec Swient. lato 1982." Since this signature bears the earlier date, I presume that this individual is the artist behind this work. I could only find references to one artist by this name, and she is a Polish activist, Jewish gravestone art scholar and mizrah artist. I am not entirely sure if this painting is by her hand, and I am only including this information as a possible attribution. Perhaps you know more about this painting or its creator? Approximately 20 5/8 x 25 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 20 x 24 1/4 inches. Good overall condition for decades of age and storage, with a few small scratches, scuffs and light edge wear. Additionally, there are some mild pressure marks visible along the edges of the canvas (please see photos.) Acquired in Los Angeles County, California.
