Very fine and rare antique Memorial Ring / Mourning Ring of 18K Gold and Enamel with a domed crystal Hair Locket at the top of the Ring with a lock of braided Hair, tenderly placed inside the domed Crystal. The Ring dates to circa: 1796. The 18K Gold & Enamel Memorial Ring - Hair Locket Ring has touches of the original black and white Enamel and inscribed around the outside of the ring it reads: ELiz. Hodgson, OB 28 APR. 1796 AE21. The Ring is a Ring Size 8 1/2. The band is slightly misshapen in area; not uncommon for jewelry of this age. The Ring was assayed at 18K Gold. The Ring is a fine and exquisite example of late 18th Century Georgian Memorial Jewelry. So much prettier and more detailed in person than the photos show.
