Description: This book is part of a collection that was owned by Edith Fairfax Davenport who was 1st cousin to James Whistler The Great American Artist. Edith Fairfax Davenport was a painter, etcher, teacher and lecturer. She was born in Kansas City Mo on July 13th 1880 and died on November 1 1957. She was a relative of James Abbott Mcneil Whistler (1834-1903) and the painter of an exact copy of Whistler's "Arrangement in Grey and Black" The Artist's mother, 1871. According to "after Whistler", the Artitst and his influence on American Painting by Linda Merrill, Davenport was Whistler's first cousin once removed. Her grandmother, Isabella Mcneill was Whistler's mother's sister. Book is in good condition with some wear along the spine. Book contains numerous old newspaper clippings from the early 1900's. Contains original maps. Edith Davenport used this book to travel throughout Europe in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Please see all pictures. This item is sold as is.
