Description: A beautiful plate in very good condition, no scratches no chips or crazing, no cracks9 3/8" wideThe scene depicts a man and woman in 18th C. attire. They are undoubtedly courting and the woman spies on her suitor as he prepares to play a piece of music for her. The couple is set in a natural garden setting, the artist paying homage to the Romantic period. Sky blues mix with greens and oranges to give the piece a sunset feel. The edge of the plate is painted golden and is curved in stylistic patterns. This masterful hand-painted Limoges plate dates to the early 1920s. The green type L30 hallmark indicates this. The plate was made in the studio of Lazeyras, Rosenfeld, and Lehman in France and is signed by J. Mongar. It is a wonderful example of Limoges and fit for any collector of French porcelain.
