Description: Maxfield Parrish’s “A Journey Through Sunny Provence" - Original Double-Matted, Period Framed Black & White Illustration from the October, 1905 issue of Century Magazine. It appeared as the feature illustration in a multi-page article (pages 340 thru 352, all of which Will be included, photos 14 thru 20) titled ‘A Master Of Make-Believe’ along with 13 smaller illustrations (which can also be trimmed and framed, if so inclined). Note: Humpty Dumpty (page 344) is the reverse of the framed image, so a ‘photocopy’ Will be included. The image measures 7 1/2”x 5 3/8”. Outermost frame dimensions are 13 5/8”x 10 5/8”. Photo #12 shows the piece before being framed. This is one of Parrish’s earliest and most elaborate of his Black & Whites, the original was drawn for, and was featured in the December, 1898 issue of St. Nicholas Magazine titled “The Page Of Count Reynard” (page 727) as its first appearance. It also appeared titled “In The Greenwood” in the 1918 Issue of ‘The American Magazine Of Art’. It is backed with acid-free backing, new hardware, dustcover and bump-ons August, 2024 and ready to hang.
