Even though the listing says free shipping there is a cost to the seller and that cost is passed on to you the buyer so please don’t think that a seller also gets free shipping. A seller that is a large company gets discounts from the shipper depending on their volume but sellers like me that have small volume don’t get those huge discounts. Yes, eBay does give sellers a discount for using eBay. If you have to return an item to me for a reason that is not my fault and I approve of the return you the buyer will have to pay that cost both ways.  The buyer needs to know about shipping cost is that it’s the shipping company that says what the shipping cost is not eBay or the seller. If the seller whether they are a small individual or some huge corporations were to make shipping free to a buyer the shipping cost is still paid by the buyer since it’s added to the total cost of the item. What you need to know about the eBay feedback shipping and handling charges rating is, did the seller charge a fair shipping cost or was it inflated to make a profit on top of the selling price. Example if your item cost $10.00 to ship and you were charged $8.00 to $12.00 you should give a 5-star rating for shipping and handling charges since you were not overcharged. Please remember that a seller also has other costs attached to shipping your item such as tape, packing peanuts, boxes, labels and some have a monthly fee from their shipping program or service that they choose to use let alone gas, employees and time.
