Description: Pair of Antique Old Paris First Empire Chinoiserie Orange-Red Ground Cracked Ice Porcelain Ormolu Vases 8¾” h, c. late 18th-early 19th century.Mie ping shape with gilt bronze flower lattices supporting fleur de lis shields and beaded ring tops around the necks, on round gilt bronze gadroon & wreath bases.Hand painted Chinese figures with fishing poles & nets and bamboo foliage on orange-red ground with cracked ice design painted in gilt. Shoulder bands of cloud, shou, fan & leaf motifs in red, magenta, yellow & green enamels after the style of 18th century Sinceny faience.By hand gilt on red marks “S.C.Y.” in the manner of Sinceny 18th century faience known for its designs of Chinese figures & bamboo. Excellent pair with gilt finish age worn from the mounts though preserved on the underside of the bases. Some wear to the porcelain gilt at the shoulders. No chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs.
