Description: For sale is a very unique piece - an original wagon odometer that would have strapped to a wheel and moved back and forth to calculate distance. It was made by LIONEL Corporation which is well known for making trains, but during WWI manufactured other items vital for the war effort. This is a great old collectible with the original leather case. The leather case has a metal piece covering its opening and the odometer sits in this opening. The way it sits allows the odometer to swing as a way to measure distance, similar to how we use pedometers to track our steps. The leather case has aged understandably for it being 110+ years old, but it is solid.
