Ready To Roll 40’ Flat Cars with Airplane Loads by Athearn (tc #9)

Description: I am in the process of reducing my layout and Athearn collection and have decided to part with these discontinued/out-of-production, HO (1/87th) scale, Ready To Roll 40’ flatcar with removable airplane loads by Athearn using a variation-type listing. Although the listing reflects them as being “used/pre-owned” most are in like-new condition, come in their original boxes (if shown in the pictures), and were only removed from it so they could be displayed on a shelf and have the pictures taken. The Ready To Roll cars have different railroad designations and road numbers. These cars come with airplanes that also have different registration numbers on their wings and fuselage. They have body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers. Please note, however, that, unlike the old “Blue Box” kits, the cradle for the airplane is not removable. Unless indicated below, the plane’s propeller spins and the wings fit into the cradle for transportation or can be inserted into the fuselage. (Care must be exercised when inserting or removing the wings less the tabs on the wings break off. (I found that loosening the screw on the bottom of the fuselage sometimes helps.)) If wings are inserted for airplanes, the right wing is the one with the black/gray catwalk stripe which aligns with the catwalk on the upper fuselage body.
