Description: Measuring about 7" x 5-1/2", and unpaginated (but 24 pages long), this paperback book is Book # 2 in the "newly graded series in seven numbers" of the "Shorter Course" of the "Spencerian System of Penmanship" by P. R. Spencer. It is dated 1877 and published by Ivison, Blakeman, Taylor & Co. The pages all contain handwritten samples of penmanship, and the name Fred Hatch - presumably the original owner - is also handwritten on the front cover. Other than that, it is in used and worn condition, with some scuffs, creases, edge wear and uneven fading on the cover, as well as some creased or bumped page corners and a few scattered ink blots and smudges.
