Vintage, Midcentury Art Deco, 10K Gold Filled, Men's Gotham Watch w/ Copper Dial

Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay. This listing is for a beautiful, vintage, men's Art Deco, 10K gold filled, Gotham watch. This watch is gorgeous! It has a stunning, brushed copper dial. The watch is running at the time of writing this listing but it is missing its crown, so I can't thoroughly wind it to test it and see how well it runs. Therefore, I am selling it as for repair. The watch movement has 17 jewels and XOMJ is stamped onto the movement, but I don't know what that means. The watch looks really beautiful and its appearance is in good vintage condition with signs of wear, appropriate to its age. I'm having a hard time precisely dating this watch as I can't find resources to date Gotham watches, but based on style, I believe the watch to be from the 1940s, possibly 30s. The signs of wear and age for this watch include scuffs and scrapes to the crystal, a few spots and mild discoloration on the dial, light surface abrasions on the gold filled case. The gold filled outer shell of the case top and bezel is still thick and solid. The only places where there's enough wear for base metal to peek through are on the inside of the lugs. The case back shows a bit more wear along the bottom outer edges where the base metal shows through. This is on the bottom sides of the watch and I have taken photos, so please review them. While the wear on the bottom shows a bit more than the top of the case, it still isn't much overall and the watch still looks nice enough for daily wear. The watch movement is Gotham, but the watch case is by Pioneer. The serial on the inside of the case is 287878. There are also servicing dates inscribed on the inside of the case but I can't make out what they are. The watch band of this watch is by Mira-Flex. It's an expandable band that is 1/20th 10K gold filled on top and stainless steel on bottom, The gold filled top is solid and thick and I see no base metal showing through anywhere. The band has a unique, diamond faceted, square pattern on its gold surface. The band's functionally is in great condition as an expandable band. It still stretches easily and snaps back to form after being stretched. Both case and band could use a little cleaning within the crevices. At the time of listing, this watch is running. The crown is missing, but I was able to pinch the little rod and turn it enough to see that the watch runs. Without the crown, though, the watch can't be wound thoroughly enough to test, so I'm selling at for repair/restoration, as I can't guarantee it's continued working condition as I know nothing of its history or when it was last serviced. Buyers should factor in the cost of replacing the crown, servicing, and likely repair when deciding whether or not to buy. As stated, though, this is a beautiful looking piece and, in my opinion, worth the investment. It will be a beautiful addition to one's vintage watch collection and give the new owner much satisfaction for years to come.
