Description: Darling and popular 18” Vogue Baby Dear doll, first issued in 1961, designed by Eloise Wilkins. FEATURES an ALL ORIGINAL BODY -- DOLL has had NO restorations but for a small bit of blush to her cheeks to bring her 'life'. (Can be removed if so desired). RARE RARE original tagged christening gown set -- I have only seen one other in the past few years... so don't miss this one! Gorgeous healthy glow to her lovely face with the prettiest blonde hair, with red highlights -- just like the Baby Dear in Eloise Wilkins book about this sweet little baby doll. Her limbs are pink and beautiful as the day she was 'born.' She has a sweet baby smell. If you have ever tried to photograph and ‘capture’ the true color of a Baby Dear’s hair, you know it depends on the lighting and angle; this baby has pretty very blonde hair. Her hair has no missing plugs and is clean and shiny and lovely, and can be combed. This happy baby is in excellent condition — fat and sassy, she has a pleasant and huggable body; inside is her broken rubber squeaker, as just about all the original ones have deteriorated over the years. I have found there are those who prefer the 'all original' dolls with no restorations to the body -- preferring to take on that task themselves, or keep them and love them as they have always been over the years. OR, there are those who like them restored with clean new stuffing and perhaps a new squeak mechanism -- I consider, in a kind way, these dolls to be 'reborn'. For a modest added fee, I WILL, at buyer's request, restuff this little Baby Dear with new kapok stuffing and add a sweet sounding one so she can 'talk' to you again... just a soft and sweet little cry. She will come with a reproduction 'Baby Dear' wrist tag. Includes a newly made white flannel diaper with French val lace trim, and a new, old-store-stock side-snap undershirt. Baby Dear is dressed in her original IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND white organdy christening dress with lace trim. Underneath is its matching slip, which is TAGGED 'Vogue Dolls Inc' inside the gathered bodice seam. Both garments are open all the way down the back for easy dressing and un-dressing your Baby; and, each have three Vogue 'signature' star dot snaps for closure. Her original bonnet was missing from the set. I found one with similar lace and organdy in the same style to complement and complete her outfit. I have also included a newly-made copy of a pair of Baby Dear booties that would have come with the outfit originally. The outfit is in MINT condition but for a small separation in the fabric at the upper right of the dress bodice (see photo); I have repaired it pretty much 'invisibly'. Both baby doll and her in her outfit are ready for loving and display~ YOU WILL LOVE THIS BABY DEAR -- If you collect them, you know they are much like potato chips, and cannot be resisted or denied.
