Description: Burnett, W.R. - High Sierra - Alfred A Knopf: New York, 1940 - First Edition / First Printing - “First Edition" stated on the copyright page as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition. Variant issue dust jacket with opinions on the flap. The book has light rubbing, shelf wear, and the lightest tanning internally. Boards are surprisingly straight and clean, the binding is square and firm, and internally there is no writing. A rather handsome example. The dust jacket has rubbing to the edges and joints, light edge wear, and some trace soiling. A rather complete and bright copy with no major areas of loss. Probably the author’s second best known book, and likely his second hardest title to find in an acceptable dust jacket. Basis for the seminal 1941 Film Noir of the same title which starred Ida Lupino and Humphrey Bogart as Roy “Mad Dog” Earle. Part western, part gritty crime drama, all classic. All books are offered with a full 30 day postage paid return policy. All books which are in dust jackets will be mailed with a clear archival dust jacket protector fitted. Shipping costs can be combined if multiple purchases are made. Items will be packaged and shipped within one business day unless otherwise noted.
